FiveEvil Hardcover Print Edition Available Now via Handiwork Games

The image features the title "FiveEvil" prominently displayed in bold, distressed white lettering against a dark, atmospheric background that suggests a sense of horror and unease. Below the title, the subtitle "FIENDISH 5e HORROR" is presented in a smaller font, also in white, maintaining the gritty aesthetic. The background includes abstract, muted colors that evoke a haunting environment, enhancing the overall theme of unsettling horror.

Body

What happens when you take Dungeons and Dragons Fifth Edition, shiny happy hero fantasy, spike its drink, strap it to an old mattress at the abandoned last house on the left, tell it you’re its biggest fan and then summon demons with strong British accents for a laugh?

From the same twisted brain-wrongs that brought us the psychedelic Mesolithic Maskwitches of Forgotten Doggerland - Handiwork Games launch the print version of FiveEvil available now.

Worms

Designer Morgan Davie replaces comfortable 5e certainties with mechanics to squirm by. Intensity replaces Difficulty Checks, escalating as the horror unfolds, whilst Desperation transforms Inspiration into a debt that must be repaid. With art by Scott Purdy and Jon Hodgson, plus layout by Paul Bourne, it's the same creative team that delivered the ENnie-nominated BEOWULF: Age of Heroes.

A series of five distinct panels showcases a blend of eerie and unsettling imagery. The first panel features a ghostly figure in a desolate landscape, while the second displays a revolver resting on a dark surface. The third panel depicts a dimly lit tunnel, evoking a sense of claustrophobia. The fourth panel presents a silhouette against a textured background, indicating low health points, and the final panel reveals a dilapidated interior with debris scattered on the floor. Each panel contributes to a haunting atmosphere, reflecting the themes of horror and tension in the game.

Flatpack

Ditching monster-hunts and heroics entirely; your characters are ordinary people trapped in Derry-flavoured nightmares, inspired by the likes of The Ritual, The Descent, and the most unsettling Twin Peaks episodes. Or as we like to call them, ‘Bank Holiday Monday Ikea’ style games.

Only Tools And Corpses

The core book contains five scenarios, the introductory Wakefield House through to Big Screamin' Demons; leaning into comedic horror whilst maintaining the scares. Between these two there’s a host of sections to help you build characters, design and run the games, a horror bestiary and all the tools needed to terrify your players.

The PDF is available now at DriveThruRPG, with print orders open for the 280-page hardcover version at handiwork.games.
