Vampire Games Day II: The Vampire Bites Back
In 1924, Dracula was performed on stage for the first time – in Derby to be precise. A hundred years later, the centenary was held to celebrate this auspicious occasion, by a series of ongoing events that were unveiled as Dracula Returns to Derby.
As part of the celebrations, Mythic Echoes was formed between the writer Peter Ray Allison and the artist Eunice Morecroft-Low. They met at Elvaston Castle, through a shared love of vampires and roleplaying. Together, they hosted Vampire Games Day and the vampire live roleplay (LARP) As Night Falls.
Now in its second year, Vampire Games Day II is a celebration of vampire-themed roleplaying games, held in a gothic former library. A collection of experienced storytellers and game masters have been brought together to run scenarios of Dungeons & Dragons, Vampire: The Requiem, Warhammer: The Old World and others.
Some of the storytellers include Chris Handley, who was one of the writers for Warhammer: The Old World, and the professional games master Katie Walford (Derby D&D).
Dressing to impress is not mandatory, but for those that do choose to do so, there will be a costume competition for the best dressed vampire to win a unique prize. There will also be a raffle, which is free to enter, to win some amazing prizes, including a Vampire: The Masquerade bundle from White Wolf and Vaesan with Mythic Carpathia from Free League.
As gaming is hard work, everyone is invited to join Mythic Echoes and the storytellers for an all-you-can-eat buffet afterwards (not included in the ticket price).
Vampire Games Day II will be held on Saturday 21st February. Doors open at 9.00am for a 10.00am start, with an hour’s break for lunch, and will conclude at 5.00pm. For those travelling further afield, discounts are available for a nearby hotel.
