Sometimes you see a cover and it just grabs you. Reinforce that with an interesting idea and and cool campaign write-up and it probably means I’m backing another crowdfunding campaign. Todays Crowdfund Quest is one of those campaigns for me… everything about it appeals to me so it was a no-brainer it became todays column to share with you.

The Elder Gods once ruled the cosmos with an ion tentactle. Then they died and their mangled corpses fell to the earth in an event known as The Calamity. Reality broke and the world became a drowned mire of hungering chaos clogged with the bones of a hundred dead civilizations.
Centuries past and the wrteched remnants of humanity entered an industrial revolution fueled by Ichor, an eldritch black sludge mined from the corpses of gods. Now the fires of industry burn with barely contained malice, sleepless factories pollute the air and sea with mutagenic exhaust, and endless wars are fought for the whims of insance oligarchs.
In the twisted wilds, wyld witches and folkloric horrors dance in a festival of madness, hungering plagues of Grimbogs lurk in the muck, and ancient cults sing for the return of their dead masters. Amidst floating junkyard mountains, ironclad dreadnoughts prowl and aberrant levithans gnaw on the bones of the gods.
To journey across this treacherous landscape, ravaged by war and waking nightmares, you must be either desperate or deranged. In other words, a junkrat. Penniless and armed to the teeth, they cram aboard their ramshackle submersibles for a chance at fame and fortune. Driven onward by a mysterious benefactor known only as The Guv (the GM), they are scavengers, smugglers, thieves, and killers, and the closest thing this Mad World has to a hero.

Junkrats is a grungy, post-apocalyptic, steampunk-fantasy rpg brimming with cosmic horror and dark comedy. You play the half-mad and wholly bizarre crew of a clunky submarine (called a junker) powered by a sentient engine that is just as much a member of the crew as the players. You’ll smuggle goods, dodge the authorities, salvage wrecks, explore the drowned ruins of forgotten empires, and fight lovecraftian abominations for your cruel benefactor (The guv).

As your power grows, so too will your infamy. Factions across the Mad World (from despotic companies and local gangs to insane faery courts and eldritch cults) will seek to hunt you down for perceived slights of hire you for their own machinations. Will you buckle under the pressure and become just another wreck in the Great Mire or overcome them all and forge something new?
