Restoration Games and Games Workshopannounced today, 5th November 2026, a multi-year licensing agreement to revive three games: Chaos in the Old World, Warrior Knights and Space Hulk: Death Angel – The Card Game. But they aren’t straight reprints, as the games are being relocated to Gravemarch, a new fantasy setting Restoration is developing exclusively for Games Workshop’s Talisman Realm brand.

The first title for release is Devastation in the Dread World, a Talisman Realm reimagining for Chaos in the Old World, a grail game for many. It features the same gritty play with area control, asymmetric factions, and blood-soaked politics with modern refinements, such as scenario-based play over random events. Original designer, Eric Lang, joins the Restoration design team to bring this new version to life.

“I think Chaos in the Old World is my most requested reprint from the most dedicated fans,” Eric said. “Restoration is the perfect match to bring this game into 2026. I started this project excited, now I’m beyond thrilled.”

Dungeons of Gravemarch: The Card Game is a restoration of Space Hulk: Death Angel – The Card Game and puts the players in control of the last few human heroes, hunting amid the ruins of the world for powerful artifacts to fight back against the evil forces that oppose them. It’s an explosive game in a compact package. Warrior Knights is a restoration of the original 1985 classic, itself redone in 2006. In this new setting, the humans have regained control of the world but are now fighting among themselves for ultimate power.

“Since I started the company, the idea of working with Games Workshop has been a goal I could not have imagined was possible,” said Justin D. Jacobson, owner of Restoration Games. “These games have that signature spice that only a Games Workshop setting can offer. Gritty, grungy, brutal, and explosively fun. Getting to work on them now is a dream come true.

Devastation in the Dread World heads to crowdfunding early next year, followed by a retail release. Dungeons of Gravemarch: The Card Game and Warrior Knights are tentatively scheduled to debut in 2028. Under the agreement, additional games in Gravemarch or other new settings in the Talisman Realm are also possible.

The Games Behind the Restorations

Chaos in the Old World (Originally released in 2009)

Published by Fantasy Flight Games, Eric Lang’s competitive strategy game casts players as the Chaos Gods Khorne, Nurgle, Tzeentch and Slaanesh, competing to corrupt and devastate the Warhammer world. Each power brings its own abilities and priorities, making the struggle about more than simply fielding the largest army. Players summon followers, battle for territory and spread corruption, pursuing victory through points or advancement along their god’s threat dial. The Old World also fights back: if its event deck runs out before a winner emerges, every player loses.

Warrior Knights (Originally released in 1985)

Originally published by Games Workshop and designed by Derek Carver, Warrior Knights is a struggle for a vacant throne, mixing military campaigning with diplomacy and political manoeuvring. Rival barons raise armies and compete for control of a medieval kingdom, with the cost of maintaining their forces adding pressure to their ambitions. Fantasy Flight Games released a revised edition in 2006, combining warfare with voting in an Assembly, religious influence and competing claims to power.

Space Hulk: Death Angel – The Card Game (Originally released in 2010)

Fantasy Flight Games’ cooperative card game translates Space Hulk’s desperate alien-hunting missions into a compact format. Set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe, it puts players in command of Space Marines fighting through a derelict space hulk infested with Genestealers. Survival depends on coordinating the squad while navigating dangerous locations and confronting attacks from the surrounding darkness. The original received expansion packs which added new missions, combat teams and enemies.
