80s Adventures: A Retro Fantasy Supplement for 5.5e

Dungeons & Dragons 5.5E Supplement by Dice Dungeons

Big hair. Bigger heroes. Totally radical adventures.

Bring the action, strange creatures, and larger-than-life characters of the 1980s to your tabletop. 80s Adventures is a fantasy supplement for the 2024 fifth-edition rules, inspired by the decade’s movies, music, and pop culture.

Create an action-movie hero, explore a haunted summer camp, or fill a treasure hoard with suspiciously familiar magic items. Build an entire retro fantasy campaign, or choose individual character options, creatures, and treasures to bring into your existing world.

Inside the book

• 12 subclasses, including Action Hero, Ghost Hunter, College of Glamorous Metal, and Synthetic Bloodline.

• Five playable species: Glammers, Lupin, Neons, Neon Dragonborn, and Vaporlings.

• New backgrounds and feats for shaping your character.

• 30 spells inspired by 80s music and pop culture.

• 50 magic items, with loot tables organized by rarity and a section on artifacts.

• 80+ monster and NPC entries, with indexes by Challenge Rating and location.

• 10 versatile lairs and 30+ locations to help Game Masters build adventures.

• Quest prompts, campaign guidance, the optional Cinematic Inspiration rule, and a pantheon of 80s-inspired gods.

Choose your species. Build your kind of hero.

Explore five playable species, including the glowing Vaporlings, alongside Glammers, Lupin, Neons, and Neon Dragonborn. Add backgrounds and feats to give your character a place in the world and a personality worth bringing to the party.

Then explore 12 subclasses: become an Action Hero Fighter, pursue the supernatural as a Ghost Hunter Ranger, or take the stage as a College of Glamorous Metal Bard. The Synthetic Bloodline sorcerer subclass explores the meeting of magic and artificial life.

Give the party treasure they’ll remember

Equip an adventurer with a Fanny Pack of Holding, introduce a Jumpsuit of Ghost Hunting, or put the Whip of the Relic Hunter into your next treasure hoard. From the Doll of the Cabbage Patch to Rubo’s Cube of Colors, our magic item collection brings the decade’s inspirations into your fantasy adventures.

Loot tables organized by rarity help Game Masters select or roll for rewards. Alongside the magic items and artifacts, 30 spells give spellcasters new options inspired by 80s music and pop culture.

Find the right villain, rival, or creature for your adventure

Bring a Puzzle Fiend into a horror adventure, introduce a Vampire Gang Leader, or give the party an infuriating rival in the Haughty Nobleman’s Son. Entries such as the Mallow Golem, Animated Mural, and Possessed Carriage offer more starting points for strange and memorable encounters.

Turn memorable places into your next adventure

Lead your party into the enchanted Maze of the Fey King, or build a story around training, competition, and rivalries at Tiger’s Eye Dojo. Location descriptions, adventure hooks, and NPC details give you starting points for deciding who the party meets, what draws them in, and where trouble begins.

Use 30+ locations, 10 versatile lairs, and quest prompts to seed individual encounters or connect ideas into a larger campaign. Guidance for running 80s Adventures, the optional Cinematic Inspiration rule, and the Gods of the 80s help you carry the theme through the wider game.
