Awaken Realms Acquire Thundergryph Games

Awaken Realms have announced the aquisition of Thundergryph Games in a joint announcement by the two companies.

Thundergryph Games will continue to operate under its own brand but will now be able to focus exclusively on game design and development, with Awaken Realms handling logistics, manufacturing, worldwide distribution and all the rest of the operational side of the business.

“With the support and proven expertise of Awaken Realms, our team will be able to focus fully on crafting new, memorable gaming experiences for players around the world,” said Gonzalo Aguirre Bisi, Founder and President of Thundergryph Games.

Thundergryph Games have built a strong reputation for light and medium-weight titles including Darwin’s Journey, Tang Garden, and Etherstone.

“We are very excited to welcome Thundergryph Games into the Awaken Realms family. Gonzalo and his team have created a truly unique brand, and we believe that together we can help their games reach even more players around the world,” said Michal Matlosz, Chief of Board Games at Awaken Realms.

Awaken Realms are best known for games such as Tainted Grail, ISS Vanguard, Nemesis, as well as special editions of classic games such as Puerto Rico, Agricola and Castles of Burgundy. The company is also a video game publishler with their Tainted Grail: Fall of Avalon having sold more than 1.3 million copies across PC, Xbox and Playstation 5. Gamefound also began life as part of Awaken Realms before being spun off as a separate entity, with Ravensburger now it’s majority shareholder, although Marcin Swierkot (co-founder of Awaken Realms and Gamefound) staying as CEO of both.

The first release under the new partnership will be Galileo’s Truth which is launching a crowdfunding campaign on Gamefound on 7th July, 2026.
