Body
A handful of metal coins can make a surprisingly effective gaming accessory. In a board game, they give every payment a little more weight. In a roleplaying session, they turn an abstract reward into something players can actually pocket. Drawlab Entertainment is returning to that idea with Legendary Metal Coins Season 9, its latest Kickstarter for thematic tabletop currency. The campaign launched on 27th October and reached it’s funding goal of €5,000 within two hours, and is now morwe than three times that as I write this on the 29th October… with the campaign not due to wrap for another 20 days.
Seven new sets, a much larger treasury
Season 9 introduces seven new thematic sets, including Forged Undead, Ninja and Victorian Units, as well as a set of GM Boon Tokens. These join a back catalogue that Drawlab says includes 65 previously released themed sets, giving backers more than 200 individual coin designs to consider.
One of the appeals is the ability to match the money to the setting. Skull designs suggest the treasury of a necromancer or an underworld kingdom, while Victorian currency could help dress a gaslit investigation. For board gamers, thematic coins offer a reusable component upgrade that can move between suitable games.
Drawlab’s “Forged” designation refers to a more three-dimensional aesthetic rather than a higher quality tier. The company’s campaign FAQ confirms that all Legendary Metal Coins are made in-house in Athens, Greece.
Backers will select their specific coins after the campaign through the pledge manager. Add-ons can be included during the Kickstarter or afterwards through BackerKit. Bonus coins will also be unlocked through stretch goals, and there is also a campaign-exclusive Season 9 collectible with purple enamel.
The full list of coin sets offered in Season 9 are as follows:

Who are Drawlab Entertainment?
Drawlab is a Greek board game and accessories company whose own history traces its beginnings to three hobby gamers in Athens in 2013. The companies work also extends beyond metal currency, having also developed and published games, with its catalogue including titles such as Mystic ScROLLS, Witless Wizards and TacTiki. It’s also had one of it’s games, When I Dream, published internationally by Repos Production. Alongside games, its accessory projects have included Legendary Dice Bags and Legendary Dice Throwers.
Metal coins have nevertheless become a longstanding part of its crowdfunding identity. The original Legendary Metal Coins for GamingKickstarter ran in 2015, attracting 1,522 backers and $107,274 against an $8,000 target. Not a bad way to help a reasonably young company get started at the time.

What were the previous Kickstarters like?
The coin series have repeatedly funded beyond its targets, although the size of its audience has varied. Season 6 raised £103,166 from 2,165 backers in 2021. Season 7 followed in 2022 with £54,210 from 968 backers, while Season 8 raised £30,793 from 487 backers in June 2025.
Drawlab, like many companies in recent years, has experienced some issues with freight and the uncertainity of tariffs. Drawlab’s Season 6 updates documented freight and fulfilment cost problems and a change of fulfilment partner. Season 8 also encountered shipping complications, with a December 2025 update saying that collector orders were waiting for wooden chests as well an additional €5 charge for US backers amid tariff uncertainty. In March 2026 Drawlab reported that every Season 8 reward had shipped, so this current Kickstarter hasn’t got any legacy pledges waiting to still be fulfilled. Something which has become a concern with some other companies of late, with the likes of CMON currently having a worrying $14.5 million in outstanding pledges still owed backers. Drawlab are definitely one of the safer pairs of hands in crowdfunding.
Legendary Metal Coins Season 9 is funding on Kickstarter until Thursday 19th November 2026.
