Mythic Echoes Presents As Night Falls: The Crimson Ball. Derby, November 21 2026

“You are cordially invited to join the Cabal of vampires at the Crimson Ball. As the sun sets, we will open the doors of our ancient repository to hold a masquerade ball and join in the restoration of our monarchs.”

No script, no predetermined story; it all unfolds during the evening as participants in this vampire themed LARP act out their own part. Choose a vampiric dynasty when buying your ticket (there’s even a handy fun personality quiz to assist you in determining where your allegiances should lie), and start thinking about the path you would like your character to follow, based upon the personal character and dynasty goals you will be assigned before the evening begins.

There will be prizes for the best costume, a complimentary buffet and a bar, as well as a “green room” where you can relax out-of-character should you feel the need to.

To give a greater sense of what to expect, organisers Mythic Echoes have produced a music video, showcasing the different factions, the setting and the costumes you can expect to see.

Mythic Echoes also give the following warning: “Please be aware that this is a game of personal horror with an emphasis on role-play. Therefore, there may be moments of intense emotion and references to blood and/or body horror”.

The Crimson Ball is part of a wider event known as ‘Dracula Returns to Derby’, in which Derby’s often unknown role in the creation of Dracula is celebrated each year.
