Osprey Games’ new Ice Age skirmish game is now on general sale.
Hide, Stone, and Bone is described as a ‘wargame of hunting and combat’ with ‘options for solo, cooperative, and competitive play‘. It sees players lead tribes of ‘early human ancestors’ in their daily struggles to survive the dangers and the harsh environment of the Ice Age. From season to season, these tribes seek to grow and prosper, engaging in various 'Big Days'; these Big Days feature mammoth hunts, clashes with predatory animals such as cave bears and sabretooth tigers, and ongoing skirmishes with rival tribes.
Life in the Ice Age isn’t all about hitting things with clubs, however; there’s also food to be gathered and tools and weapons to be crafted. Oh, and you better check in with those shamans to see if they have any insights into future threats: these threats can include raids by rival tribes, attacks by big animals, and even supernatural events.
The crux of the game, however, lays in a campaign system which ‘forms a core part of the gameplay experience’. This campaign places a premium on the survival of each player’s tribe whilst giving them ‘all the tools they need to meet the challenges of the Ice Age and lead their tribes into a prosperous future’.
Hide, Stone and Bone is written by Austin Hunt and features illustrations by Mars Oosterveld. It is available now from the Osprey Games website.

The Spiel des Jahres (Game of the Year) awards were first created in 1978, celebrating the best in board and card game design. Even being nominated for the award can bring in a massive sales boost for the games, with the winner often selling 500,000+ copies. It is one of the few awards in the games industry that has a major effect on sales and exposure. The awards, and nominations, are usually covered in the mainstream news in Germany.

It seems that if a world is left too long without a Michael Moorcock licensed Tabletop Roleplaying Game strange things happen and we end up getting multiple new roleplaying games - but only if all of them are Elric and Stormbringer it seems…

Muhammad Ali, Bruce Lee, Raphael, Donatello, Michelangelo and Leonardo all walk into a pizza joint… all are icons and classic fighters but that’s not the only similarity between them any longer. Now they have all been immortalised in two new Unmatched sets by Iello which will be hitting stores next week.

An interesting little collection of booklets for anyone interested in Victorian, or occult themed, tabletop roelplaying games appeared on Kickstarter last night from indie Norwegian studio Two Starving Gnolls.
