Space Marines Lead This Week's Warhammer 40,000 Pre-Orders - Including a £250 Codex!

Games Workshop has opened pre-orders for its latest wave of Warhammer 40,000 Space Marines, bringing the army’s new Codex to the tabletop alongside updated infantry, vehicles, and several kits previously included in the Armageddon launch box.

All fourteen products are scheduled to launch on Saturday 3rd October 2026, with the range stretching from the £20.50 Space Marines Dice et to an eye-watering £250Limited Edition of the new Codex.

A new Codex for the Angels of Death

The new Codex is available in three formats - Codex: Space Marines softback (£25), Codex: Space Marine’s Collector’s Edition (£61.50), and the Codex: Space Marines Limited Edition (£250).

The standard softback edition of Codex: Space Marines contains 232 pages covering the background, organisation, and tabletop rules for the Adeptus Astartes. It includes 15 Detachments and 85 datasheets, together with amy-bnuilding advice, painting guides, and a code unlocking the books contents in the Warhammer 40,000 app.

The book sees some quite substantial changes to the army. With Marines wearing Tacticus armour moving to Toughness 5, while bolt pistols, combat knives and chainswords increasing to Strength 5. Intercessor bolt rifles receive two firing modes, including a Strength 6 option. The trade-off will be higher p[oints vales and consequently smaller armies, intended to make Space Marines feel more like the elite strike forces described in the setting.

The Hardback Codex: Space Marine’s Collector’s Edition was already showing as sold out through the UK Warhammer store on Monday morning.

A £250 Codex

Supplied in an individually numbered presentation box, the Codex: Space Marines Limited Edition includes a hardback version of the Codex with exclusive wraparound artwork gold foil decoration, gilt page edges, and a ribbon bookmark. Owners can customise the cover using six bronze-finished metal Chapter badges, while the collection also contains a large metal Crux Terminatus emblem and six art prints.

Games Workshop has also included the £22 Command Pack, containing 96 reference cards and 24 doubke-sided tokens.

It’s an elaborate collector’s item, but the decision to charge ten times the price of the standard Codex has drawn considerable criticism from players. At £250, the package costs more than several complete starter armies and occupies a very different part of the market from the book simply needed to play Space Marines.

Reinforcements from Armageddon

Several miniatures originally released in the Warhammer 40,000: Armageddon set are recieving their own independent releases.

Champions of Armageddon costs £70 and builds five Space Marines - a Chaplain with Jump Pack, an Ancient, and three Eradicators armed with heavy bolters. Currently they are listed as an online only product.

The Eradicators are also available separately as a three-model squad for £39.50, These heavily armoured infantry exchange the melta weapons associated with existing Primaris Eradicators for heavy bolters, providing sustained anti-infanty fire.

Kaius Konorius, personal champion to Ultramarines Chapter Master Marneus Calgar, receives an individual £30 release. Armed with the paired power weapons Pain and Reproach, Konorius is designed as both a duellist and bodyguard for important Ultramarines characters.

The remaining former Armageddon models include a £41 Land Speeder and a £37.50 Rhino. The Rhino is a new interpretation of one of the setting’s longest-serving armoured personnel carriers, while the Land Speeder restores the classic anti-gracity vehicle to the Space marines range with a modern plastic kit.

New infantry, cavalry, and veterans

The wave also introduces a new ten-model Intercessor Squad for £41.50. As the core battleline unit of many Space Marine armies, its arrival alongside the revised profiles in the new Codex makes it one of the most important product releases in the range.

Players looking for greater speed can add a Captain on Bike (£37) or an updated three-model Outrider Squad (£42). Together, the two kits provide the foundation for fast-moving forces inspired by Chapters such as the White Scars.

The five-model Vanguard Veteran Squad with Jump Packs costs £41.50. These elite assault Marines descend directly into close combat and copme with a range of weapons and cosmetic ooptions suitable for veteran warriors.

Rounding out the accessories is the Command Pack: Space Marines at £22, offering Detachment, Enhancement and Stratgem reference cards alongside its tokens. A set of sixteen metallic silver Space Marines Dice was also offered for £20.50 but that has already sold out at the time of writing.
