Kings of War Fourth Edition Drops This Week!

A display of the "Claws in the Sand" 2-Player Starter Set for Kings of War features a variety of miniatures and game components. The set includes two distinct armies: one with orange and brown figures, and another with blue and grey figures, arranged on bases. In the background, the box for the starter set is visible, showcasing artwork of warriors in battle, along with rulebooks and army lists laid out beside it.

Pre-orders are now open for Mantic Games’ new edition of Kings of War.

Created by and launched by Alessio Cavatore and Ronnie Renton in 2010, Kings of War has since become one of industry’s leading fantasy mass battle wargames. Now the fourth edition of Kings of War is available for pre-order.

Described (admittedly by Mantic themselves) as an ‘elegant’ mass-battle fantasy wargame, this new edition includes ‘everything you need to muster your soldiers and march them to war’, including the core rules, advanced mechanics, profiles and army lists for all your favourite races. You can also look forward to a wealth of background, fiction and artwork defining the world Pannithor. More importantly, the new edition also features army lists for 16 unique factions.

Mantic are offering this new edition in a variety of attractive pre-order bundles; these vary from the relatively modest Claws In The Sand 2-Player Starter Set (which includes a slimline copy of the rulebook, a ‘Getting Started’ sheet and two small armies) for £100 all the way to the extravagant Xirkaali One-Click Ultimate Bundle for a mere £360. You can also add a number of extras, including the Invasion expansion, tokens, movement trays and other accessories. Complete armies can also be added to you pre-order, with the available races including halflings, ogres and Mantic’s homegrown Twilight Kin and Trident Realm factions. My recommendation, however, is the new Xirkaali faction; this oriental-themed army includes a variety of human soldiers fighting side-by-side with some fabulous, anthropomorphic samurai-style warriors.

Kings of War fourth edition will be released in December of 2025.

The Art of Woof: More Sun Tzu than Shih Tzu, Kings of War 4th Edition details the Xirkaali Empire, noble canine warriors hunting magic users across Pannithor. All warfare is based on deception, but it's hard to lie to a dog. #KingsOfWar #wargaming #mantic #kingsOfWar #fantasy #miniatures
