Games Workshop Showcase the Protagonists of Warhammer Quest: Darkwater
Body
The new Games Workshop boardgame, Warhammer Quest: Darkwater, on the way, and an article on the Warhammer Community website has given us all a preview of the game’s miniatures.
Published today, this new article focuses on the protagonists of this new release. Described as ‘a characterful bunch covered with cool details’ this collection of miscreants includes the knight Edmark Valoran. Described as ‘A warrior through and through’, Edmark is ready for action, carrying as he is an axe, a totem and a sword hanging from his belt.
Edmark’s buddy, Drolf Ironhead, is a dwarv— sorry, duardin ranger. Acting as the group’s pony, Drolf carries a backpack stuffed full of adventurers’ equipment. He’s also carrying his own two axes and a crossbow, so he’s ready to deal damage from range or up close and personal.
The handsome woman with the broken nose and second-hand armour is Bren Tylis. A ‘hard-bitten, roving sellsword’, she’s got a lot of gear, including a flask, a lantern and a shattered spear.
Inara Sion is a ‘resplendent questing maiden’ who is centuries older than she looks. She’s also the proud owner of a magic sword.
The bearded and bare-footed silver fox shown below is Jacobus Vyne. His Vineroot staff reveals his links to nature and the source of his magical abilities. He also a spite-owl on his shoulder, which is nice.
The shapeshifter Drasher Vorn wears his tribes Ebon Claw totem as well as various pendants which feature the Arrow of the Hunt. Whilst he may be a bog lad, he’s by no means the biggest in the group; that title belongs to Prince Kelthannor … and all of that mass is covered in detail. As well as rocking some smart threads and a lip ring, he’s also carrying a bow and accompanying arrows, and a horn which he uses ‘to embolden his allies’.
Belga the Cystwitch , meanwhile, is carrying a lot of baggage. Not only is she revolting to look at, but she’s got two of her sisters melded into her body. Just in case she wasn’t carrying enough, she’s also got a cauldron which she uses in her ‘vile rituals’.
Her buddy Shaman Foulhoof is also a big fan of such foul practices, but he’s more of a ‘dripping tainted blood onto the land from a sacrificial heart’ kinda guy.
The sexy beast with the massive chopper shown below is Mulgoth the Cleaver. He also has an engorged, rotting arm. Lovely.
As hideous and threatening as these villains may be, they’re strictly the supporting act the daemon prince Gelgus Pust. Described (quite rightly) as ‘The centrepiece of the box’, he’s dripping with gooey, viscous detail. From his toothsome grin to his moth-like wings, his pestilent boils to the souls trapped in his rusty sword, this is a very cool archvillain / final boss, and I kinda hope he wins all the time, because, admit it, he’s waaaaay more interesting than the heroes…
Pre-orders for Warhammer Quest: Darkwater open on 29th November, 2025, and the game hits the shelves on 13th December.
