Hobbylink Japan have opened pre-orders on their new Tomahawk model kit.
Perhaps more recognisable to Western audiences—particularly those more familiar with FASA’s in Battletech—as the ‘unseen’ Wolverine battlemech, this kit is a 1/100 scale reproduction of the Tomahawk mech, as seen in the popular Japanese science fiction mecha anime, Macross. In that anime, the Tomahawk was one of the many designs of non-transformable, bipedal mecha used to defend Earth from the hostile attentions of the alien race known as the Zentradi.
The design for the Tomahawk—as with a handful of other mecha—was co-opted by FASA in the 1980s to be used as the Wolverine; the designs for popular Battletech mechs such as the Rifleman, the Wasp and more were also appropriated in this way. However. Following legal action by the owners of Macross, these designs were dropped by FASA and the affected mechs were henceforth referred to by fans and Battletech players as ‘unseen’.
This Tomahawk kit, however, will remain an attractive collectible and / or curio for even the most casual of Battletech fans. It is a ‘snap-fit’, fully-posable kit which doesn’t require glue. The kit also includes decals.
See the Hobby Link Japan website for more details.
