Mammoth Factory Games are preparing to launch their next crowdfunding campaign.
Coming soon to Kickstarter, this next project—entitled Dark Descent—is described as a ‘dark subterranean 5E setting guide’. It promises not only ‘ancient evil, blood magic, forbidden subclasses [and] profane magic items’, but also ‘an expansive bestiary full of unholy monsters’.
Weighing in at ‘450+ pages’ (which we assume is dependent on stretch goals), Dark Descent will also include new character subclasses such as Infernalists, Blood Trackers, Circle of Doom Druids and more. It will also bring us bold new races including—but by no means limited to—Twillids, Fleshcrafts and Woldling Aberrants.
Dark Descent launches this forthcoming September. If you want to be amongst the first to back this cool project, then check out the prelaunch page on Kickstarter and click ‘notify me on launch’. Whilst you’re there, you can also avail yourself of a host of free written content and STL files!
See the Kickstarter prelaunch page for more details.

A fierce, winged creature with a wolf-like head and muscular build stands prominently, wielding a glowing sword. The background features swirling flames and dark shadows, enhancing the menacing atmosphere. To the left, a book titled "DARK DESCENT" is partially visible, with the tagline "DELVE DEEP, DON'T DIE" displayed above in bold lettering.
A Twillid character, resembling a humanoid with bat-like wings and a mischievous expression, is positioned on the left, holding a small object. On the right, a muscular Fleshcraft character stands confidently, showcasing a pale, muscular physique with a prominent heart symbol on his chest, wielding a large weapon. Both characters are set against a dark, textured background, with their names and the label "NEW RACE" displayed beneath them.
Three fantasy character illustrations are displayed side by side. On the left, an Infernalist wizard with long hair and a tattered robe, surrounded by swirling red magic. In the center, a fierce Blood Warrior barbarian wielding a large axe, dressed in tribal attire, stands over a defeated creature. On the right, a Circler character with wild hair and a menacing expression, holding a weapon, is depicted alongside a monstrous figure. Each character is labeled with their respective subclass titles.
