Necromunda RPG Cancelled A Month After Being Announced...

In a blow to a many fans Games Workshop have confirmed that their previously announced Warhammer Necromunda Roleplaying Gameis no more. Originally announced on Friday 18th September 2026 as part of the companies 2026 Big Autumn Preview the game was met with favourable feedback from fans. Things soon got confused though, as within a week or so of the announcement the news disappeared from Games Workshop’s English language site (although was still available to see in some other languages such as their German site) and fans were left wondering if they’d experienced a Necromunda-induced hallucination.

Now a month later Games Workshop have released more information about their 2027 Necromunda plans, and the RPG is officially no longer part of them, with a simple couple of lines…

However, there won’t be a Roleplay expansion.

After careful consideration we’ve decided to focus our efforts on providing even more great minis for the core game

No reason, other than Games Workshop deciding to focus on more miniatures for the game, has been given.

Necromunda is still going to be having a busy 2027, despite on RPG-goodness, with the current schedule promising several new settings and expansions. Spring will return to the Ash Wastes, with new rules and what Games Workshop describes as Necromunda’s biggest plastic vehicle kit yet. Later releases will revisit the Underhells and Cinderak City, bringing new fighters for the Malstrain Genestealer cults, support for established gangs and new brutes. The year is set to round out with new mercenaries and gunslingers, alongside further gang, scenery and rules releases.

There is also a major expansion for House Orlock still expected this year, featuring three multipart plastic kits with new cosmetic and wargear options.

So Necromunda itself has plenty on the way, but the RPG teased just weeks ago appears to have been left behind in the Underhive.
