Acthung! Cthulhu Goes Auf Wiedersehen Cthulhu

Achtung! Cthulhu was the first game line that Modiphius Entertainment created and published back in 2013. Inspired by the works of H.P. Lovecraft and using World War 2 as it’s setting the game did phenomenally well and helped launch Modiphius towards the company it is today.

Originally Achtung! Cthulhu used a variety of systems - Call of Cthulhu, Savage Worlds, Fate and Trail of Cthulhu, but it later settled into using Modiphius’ house 2d20 system, which their subsequent TTRPGs have also used.

Now, after 13 years and over 50 products including adventures, sourcebooks, setting guides, accessories, and supplements - not to mention dozens of miniatures - that have taken investigators, agents and adventurers across the world and through the war, Achtung! Cthulhu is going Auf Wiedersehen.

Following the successful retail launch of The Norway Projekt in January 2026, Modiphius Entertainment today announced current internal projects for Achtung! Cthulhu 2d20 have been placed on hiatus.

Gavin Dady, the Product Manager for the Achtung! Cthulhu line at Modiphius said “We’ve reached a point in the Secret War storyline where we feel the Achtung! Cthulhu line is in a good place. We want to let the community take the next steps in this journey. This isn’t good bye forever. In time, we’ll be reviewing the line and exploring where we could go next, but for now, the team is signing off.”

Achtung! Cthulhu is part of Modiphius’ World Builder community range - which allows creators to produce material for the game through the program for sale on DriveThruRPG.
