Penguins Go Fishing on Board Game Arena

Board Game Arena is the largest board game table in the world. With over 10 million players and a library of 1200 games this popular browser-based platform allows you to play against friends, and strangers, from all around the world.

Brought by Asmodee in early 2021, after becoming phenomenally popular during Covid when face-to-face gaming options were limited, the platform actually begun life way back in 2010 in France.

The platform adds new titles to it’s online library every week and a few days ago saw the addiiton of the fantastic 2003 game Hey, That’s My Fish! which is a highly strategic game about penguins trying to catch the most fish.

The game is for 2-4 players and ages 8+ and won a bunch fo awards when it first appeared. It’s changed publishers a few times over the years and physical copies are currently available from Next Move in English.

The rules are incredibly simple - you move a penguin in a straight line and collect the tile you started from. Because your every move removes a piece of the ice the board is constantly changing. What may have looked like a simple friendly race for fish quickly becomes a cut-throat and high stakes game where you are trying to cut off sections of the

board to either create your own private island to fish from, or to isolate your oppoinents penguins so they are unable to move. Each tile has a number of fish on it - from 1 to 3 - which represent the points scored at the end of the game.

It’s great fun, and highly addictive. I’ve had several games on the go at any one time over the last few days since it launched and it’s definitely made me want to dig out my physical copy for next games night!
