New Travel Sized Quick-Play Version of Wingspan Takes Flight

Just in time for the summer, when many of us will be spreading our wings to go on holiday, Stonemaier Games have released Wingspan Pocket, a compact, standalone, entry in the award-winning bird-themed board game series.

Designed by Elizabeth Hargrave, Wingspan Pocket is for 1-5 players and takes around 25-35 minutes for the complete game. Being a faster, and more portable, format Wingspan Pocket makes both a great starting point for newcomers as well as offering longtime fans a fresh way to play the game that is easy to take away on holiday, the local cafe, or just have hanging around in your bag to play whenever the urge takes you.

The biggest change from the original Wingspan is the streamlined designed in Wingspan Pocket. Players build a single row of birds instead of managing multiple habitats, with each turn focused on activating that row from left to roght. Double-sided cards cleverly combine birds and food resources, reducing components whilst keeping the original games strategic decisions. The game also introduces new ongoing abilities and features 106 bird species from around the world, many reimagined specifically for this release.

The game is available now through Stonemaier’s webstore, with their fulfilment centres shipping from the US, Canada, UK, and Australia. Gen Con (30th July - 2nd August) attendee’s will have the oppoortunity to pick up copies at the show, with a general retailer release expected in August - with a physical store release occuring before the game is available through online sellers a few weeks later.
