Renegade Game Studios and Hasbro have renewed their licensing agreement, continuing a partnership that has brought Hasbro’s brands and classic game titles to gaming tables around the world. The companies have not disclosed how long the new agreement runs, but Hasbro has said releases are planned for 2027 and beyond.

The renewed deal covers Hasbro brands such as Transformers, G.I. Joe, Power Rangers, M.A.S.K., My Little Pony, JEM and the Holograms, and ROM the SpaceKnight. It also includes a range of classic games such as Axis & Allies, Acquire, Diplomacy, Heroscape, and RoboRally, which Renegade has already previously published alongside new classic properties and new games that have not been annouced yet, or are in development.

Renegade Game Studios has been a valued partner in bringing Hasbro’s iconic brands to life through engaging tabletop games,” said Marianne James, Senior Vice President, Global Licensing at Hasbro. “We look forward to continuing our collaboration and creating new ways for fans to connect with te brands they love.”

What has Renegade published so far?

The licensed catalogue includes several different kinds of games. Power Ranges: Heroes of the Grid is a cooperative miniatures game, while G.I. Joe Mission Critical sends players on team missions against Cobra. Renegade has also published roleplaying games for titles such as Power Rangers, G.I. Joe and Transformers using their Essence20 system (more on that below).Deck-building games have brought together Power Rangers, G.I. Joe, Transformers and My Little Pony.

Renegade has also released new editions of classic strategy titles, including several versions of Axis & Allies, as well as Acquire, Diplomacy, and Robo Rally. More recently they have also dipped into the Hasbro IP catalogue and produced new games using old properties such as Robo Rally Dice, Displomacy: The Golden Blade and new Heroscape releases.

We’re extremely pleased to extend and expand our relationshop with Hasbro,” said Scott Gaeta, President of Renegade, “From our beginnings with Power Rangers to our most recent projects on Dungeions & Dragons Lords of Waterdeep, working with the teams at Hasbro and Wizards of the Coast has been a pleasure. It’s an honor to be entrusted with bringing these iconic brands to tabletops worldwide.”

What might come next?

Some projects have already been announced, such as the second editions of some of their roleplaying games, such as Transformers, Power Rangers and G.I. Joe, which will all see new editions using the Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition rules system. These new editions will will also be launched usig Backerkit before getting a wider retail release.

Renegade has slso said an all-new deck-building game and further Power Rangers titles will be revelaed at Renegade Con in October, although no details are known at present.

The renewal also gives Renegade room to explore brands they haven’t touched bfore, such as JEM and the Holograms and ROM. ROM has certanly seemed to be a popular inclusion online with a number of my friends keen at the prospect of seeing more of the Spaceknight.

I’m guessing that we may find out more later in October with the next Renegade Con and the reveals that will bring us. For the latest updates from Renegade Game Studios you can visit their website and sign up for the Renegade newsletter.
