D&D World of Warcraft Accidently Announced Early

Taking a little thunder away from an expected Gen Con announcement, Roll20 (a free web-based virtual tabletop platform used to play TTRPGs online with friends, and official licensing partner with Wizards of the Coast) accidently announced the pre-order for D&D World of Warcraft. The blog post was removed from their website, but not before screengrabs had been taken and the news started being shared, thanks to an eagle-eyed Christian Hoffer who broke the story over on Enworld.

The official announcement is expected to take place on Thursday 30th July at Gen Con, during an official Dungeons & Dragons panel that is taking place in the evening.

This won’t be the first time that the massively popular MMORPG has been given the TTRPG treatment. Back in 2003 Sword & Sorcery Studios (an imprint of White Wolf Publishing) released the Warcraft RPG, followed in 2005 by a second edition called World of Warcraft RPG, along with supplements and adventures, using the then Dungeons & Dragons 3rd Edition rules under the Open Game License.
