R2i Games Uncorks Bordeaux, a Travel-Friendly Winemaking Game

A vibrant, illustrated scene of the Bordeaux wine region. Rolling green vineyards stretch across the landscape, dotted with small houses and a stone aqueduct. A winding river flows through the center, with red wine pouring from bottles and barrels into the water. Multiple wine bottles, glasses, and wooden barrels are scattered throughout the scene. In the background, a village with houses and a church sits among the hills. A decorative banner at the top reads "Bordeaux," flanked by grape clusters.

Road To Infamy Games (R2i Games) had one of the breakout hits of 2024 with Fromage, their French cheesemaking game. They turned to Italy in 2025 for the next game in the series, Formaggio. Now, in 2026, they are trying something slightly different with Bordeaux - a winemaking pencil-and-paper game.

Bordeaux, designed by Ben Rosset who co-designed Fromage and designed Formaggio, and illustrated by Pavel Zhovba who has been behind the visual image of the entire series to date, is a departure from the larger boardgames of the two cheese-themed games. Bordeaux comes is a slim travel-sized pad of 150 unique game sheets that is ideal for quick and easy play on the move - whether you’re on a plane, at the beach, down the wine bar, or at home on games night. Just tear out a sheet for each player, grab a pencil, and you’re ready to go.

You are a winemaker from Bordeaux making, aging, and selling your artisanal wines. You strive to create the highest quality and most prestigious wines in France.

Bordeaux is a condensed, paper-and-pencil version of the board game Fromage. This travel-sized game easily fits in a backpack and doesn't require a table, so it can be played anywhere: the backseat of a car, an airplane, the beach, or even while you stand in a long line at a game convention!

The game lasts 13 turns (years). Each year, assign workers to Make Wine or Gather Resources, choosing a duration of 1, 2, or 3 years for each action. Longer duration means a more powerful action, but it will take longer for that worker to be ready again. At game-end, score points for your wine and resources.

The game is suitable for ages 10+ and takes around 30 minutes to play. With an official release date of 26th August, some advance copies will be available at Gen Con, taking place in Indianapolis between 30th July to 2nd August, via the Allplay Event Hall (Room #140), with online pre-orders shipping out in early August.

You can download the rulebook, as well as four game sheets to print and play to test it out, on the games official product page - where you can also place pre-orders for the early August advance shipping date.
