Deadlands Turns 30 and Pinnacle Are Throwing One Hell of a Kickstarter

Pinnacle Entertainment Group are launching a major Kickstarter campaign on Tuesday 17th February to celebrate 30 years of Deadlands, the horror-Western RPG that helped define the Weird West genre. Created by Shane Lacy Hensley and first released at Gen Con in 1996, the game now spans multiple award-winning editions and four spinoff settings: Hell on Earth, Lost Colony, Noir, and the recently-launched Dark Ages.

Part History, Part Art and Part Love Letter

Deadlands: 30 Years of Guts, Grit & Ghost Rock is a deluxe commemorative hardcover featuring a glow-in-the-dark cover by Aaron Riley and Cheyenne Wright, a complete cover gallery of nearly every Deadlands release, designer diaries, behind-the-scenes stories (including Bruce Campbell’s live-action game), cancelled project tales, and forewords by Joe R. Lansdale, Mike Stackpole, and Campbell himself. This book is a one-off; it won’t become an ongoing retail product so if you want one, you need to make your pledge.

More rules in the Weird West

Pinnacle are also releasing a fully self-contained Deadlands Core Rule Book with the Savage Worlds Adventure Edition rules integrated and reflavoured for the Weird West. Everything needed to play in one volume. Existing owners of Deadlands and Savage Worlds won’t need to repurchase however; rules updates will be made freely available online.

Saddle Up for Bonus Loot

Campaign-exclusive items include ten metal commemorative coins designed by Cheyenne Wright (usable as Conviction tokens, never to be reprinted) and an Anniversary Dice Set by Modern Artifice with Deadlands card faces embedded inside the dice. Additional offerings include Rascals, Varmints & Relics a Marshal’s Accessories Box with cards, tokens, dice, and a deluxe Game Master screen, a Powers Box with Arcane Background reference cards, and the first ever Deadlands Starter Box for brand new players.
