New GMT Games Releases for early May

GMT Games have four new titles due to hit stores in early May, covering Medieval Italy, Submarine warfare during the American Civil War, a solo kit for the Cuban Revolution and a Presidential update kit.

First up we have Purgatorio: Men of Iron Volume IV which takes us to 11th to 14th century Italy during the battle between the supporters of the Pope and those of the Holy Roman Empire aftre the Investiture Controversy caused a split between the Italian city states, and even the inhabitants within those city states. The supporters of the Papacy, called the Guelphs, and those of the Holy Roman Empire, called Ghibellines, wre based in the city states of Central and Northern Italy, and their conflict and power struggle dominated political life across Italy. The game includes a number of battles starting with Legnano 29th May 1176 - which sees Frederick Barbarossa figthing the Lombard League for control of northern Italy - to Zappolino 15th November 1325 - involving a long running feud between Modena and Bologna.

Infernal Machine: Dawn of Submarine Warfare is a solitaire board game, set during the American Civil War, which puts the player in the role of an inventor/entrepreneur attempting to design, build, and use a submarine in the conflict. The game can be played in either a scenario format or as a campaign. In the campaign you can choose the city or port where the project’s machine shop is located and have to seek out investors, hire mechanics to bring your blueprints to life, get a crew together and test out your contraption - all the while contending with the ebb and flow of the war and the disruption that causes in the supply chain and labour market.

The final two products are the Cuba Libre Calixto Bot Update Kit, which brings a solo system to the Cuba Libre game set during the 1957-1958 Cuban Revolution, and the Mr President 2nd Edition Update Kit, which will bring copies of the first edition of the game in line with the second edition changes and errata.
