(Crowdfund Quest) FORGOTTEN ODYSSEYS

Crowdfund Quest is a daily column that takes us on an expedition into tabletop crowdfunding with a look at a current project in the tabletop gaming world.

Adam Bradford has an impressive record in the tabletop RPG business. He founded D&D Beyond, the official digital hub for Dungeons & Dragons that has a built-in virtual tabletop and loads of cool features and resources for players and Dungeon Masters alike, and has most recently written and designed the Invincible - Superhero Roleplaying game, alongside Tomas Harenstam, for Free League Publishing. Now, under the moniker of BadEye, he has launched his first Kickstarter campaign, raising money for Forgotten Odysseys, a Mork Borg powered RPG about surviving the trip home from the Trojan War in mythic Greece.

Forgotten Odysseys is a self-contained, rules light, art heavy game compatible with the Mork Borg rules and inspired by Greek mythology and the epic tales of Odysseus and his misadventures trying to get back to Ithaca.

As with Mork Borg, the game primarily uses a d20. Players roll 3d6 for each ability to get a modifier. You roll the d20 and add your ability modifier to try and beat a Difficulty Rating (DR). For the most part, rolls are done in the open, with players rolling both attack and defend against enemies - while the GM gets to focus on creating new ways to challenge the players and keep their Seekers from getting home.

The Trojan War lasted a grueling decade. After all the struggles and bloodshed, thousands of Greek soldiers set out to return to their homes - many a mere shell of what they once were, While the journey undertaken by Odysseus and his crew is widely known, there wwere many other harrowing journeys no less arduous - and occasionally triumphant - that were lost to the mutterings of the oral history. The game puts players into the sandals of these Seekers as they sail homeward to forge their fate… but Eris, the goddess of strife and chaos, will stop at nothing to stop them.

The Forgoten Odyssyes book is endowed by the gods with a mythic trove of content to support the ill-fated journey home, includign 6 Seeker classes, Bronze Age weapons and armour, an introductory adventure for the Seekers final acts in the Trojan War, powerful boons and curses, 20 legendary items from Aegis to the Winged Sandals of Hermes, seafaring rules with a method of tracking the journey home to capture the spiral into desperation, ancient Greek ships, numerous tables to randomizemishaps, events, encounters, and islands, and guidance for how to set the stage for the Seekers’ arrival if they actually make it home.

FORGOTTEN ODYSSEYS is currently funding on Kickstarter and runs until Thursday 23rd July 2026.
