Chaosium Unleash a Smorgasbord of Creatures
Body
Chaosium have expanded their catalogue of Basic Roleplaying titles with Creatures.
Described as a ‘menagerie of monsters’, Creatures ‘collects animals, monsters, nonhumans, and nonplayer characters drawn from history, science fiction, fantasy, prehistory, mythology, and the modern world’. It has also been designed to serve as a gamemaster’s toolkit, allowing all the creatures included in the book to be used in any campaign. This versatility is further underlined by its inclusion of rules for modifying and customizing creatures and NPCs; the creation of familiars, megafauna and kaiju; building villains and more.
Basic Roleplaying: Creatures is designed to allow gamemasters to use the monsters featured in this expansive bestiary with Chaosium’s Basic Roleplaying: Universal Game Engine-based games such as RuneQuest, Call of Cthulhu, Rivers of London, and Pendragon. It presents more than 200 creatures organised into chapters focusing on ‘natural animals, dinosaurs and megafauna, fantasy creatures, summoned creatures and sci-fi staples such as aliens and robots’. GMs can also add some colourful characters to their scenarios with a variety of NPCs.
Available to download from Chaosium and DriveThruRPG, Creatures can also be purchase in hardcover and leatherette formats.
