Awaken Realms’ Nemesis series is heading into new territory with it’s latest crowdfunder, turning its attention to a cooperative, evolving story that spans multiple missions. Its Gamefound campaign is live, and the latest update has added a new character class as well as another wave of grotesque enemies.

This is the fourth campaign in the Nemesis series and the game has made big money since it’s debut with the simply titled Nemesis. In total, through the initial crowdfunding campaigns alone, the series is currently sitting on US$38.2 million - which is roughly £28.9 million - and the latest campaign still has over two weeks of its basic funding to go so we’ll see that easily top the $40 million mark, and then some, by the time it wraps on the 27th October.

The original Nemesis games are built around self-contained ordeals which see the players explore, fight to survive and pursue personal objectives, some of which may put them at odds with their crewmates. Nemesis: Legacy carries the horror across a longer campaign, where the group’s choices can affect what comes next.

Designed by Adam Kwapinski, with the campaign and legacy elements led by the King of Legacy himself, Rob Daviau, along with Jaime Barriga. the game’s main story is fully cooperative and described as a 35+ hour experience. Players can also change components as the story unfolds, whilst there is also a Recharge Pack included that allows the campaign to be reset for another playthrough.

The latest from Gamefound

The campaign hit is $50,000 funding goal in under a minute, with over 15,000 backers having pledged @$5.8 (@ £4.4) million so far.

Although the core campaign is cooperative, Nemesis Legacy also includes an Infinity Mode for standalone missions, playable before or after the story. Groups can choose cooperative or classic semi-cooperative play, bringing back the hidden agendas and possible betrayal that defined the earlier titles.

If you’re a fan of the previous Nemesis games, or other legacy games, then this is a campaign worth checking out. Of course, if you already have some of the other Nemesis games you may well not have managed to play through everything yet as each campaign really overloads you with goodies. Even if you have managed to play through all the missions, and expansions, from previous sets I can pretty much guarantee you won’t have painted all the figures that come with the games! There’s a lifetime hobby right there without even touching the actual gameplay!

The standard edition of Nemesis: Legacy, which comes with standees, is €89, whereas the miniature edition is €129. There are also a lot of other bundles and add-ons available so check the Gamefound page for details of everything that is available, as well as the ever expanding range of stretch goals as the campaign continues to break targets. The game is for 1-5 players, ages 14+.

Nemesis: Legacy is funding on Gamefound now, until Tuesday 27th October 2026.
