Ghost in the Shell Enters Last Week on Kickstarter

Mana Project Studio’s Kickstarter campaign for Ghost in the Shell: Arise is now in its final week.

Described as ‘a role-playing game focusing on action, espionage and corporative corruption’, this forthcoming roleplaying game is based on ‘the exciting and hyper-technological future described in the anime series’. It will allow players to experience the Ghost on the Shell saga ‘from its very beginning’, giving them as it does the opportunity to ‘live through the formation of a Security Section [and] sort through the many ghosts that are inevitably a part of it’.

Set in Japan’s Newport City in the year is 2027, this Ghost in the Shell: Arise details the dawn of Section 9. It also introduces a city of ‘intrigue and betrayal, corrupt officials and criminals [and] cyber-enhanced opponents’;. Players will navigate the threats posed by this city as they play ‘a team of specialized agents employing advanced infiltration tactics and espionage to attack and neutralize enemy threats and uphold national security’.

The Kickstarter campaign revolves around the game’s core rulebook. A modified version of the Forged in the Dark game system (as designed by John Harper and first published in Blades in the Dark TTRPG), this rulebook contains ‘all the rules for playing the game’ and creating characters. It also include everything players will require to flesh out an operatives’ skill, cybernetics, gear etc.
