Are You Ready To Rumble? First Wave of G.I. JOE Heroscape Hits Shelves

This coming week see’s the first wave of G.I. JOE Heroscape games, expansions and terrain sets hit stores. The game, published by Renegade Game Studios under license from Hasbro/Avalon Hill kicks off with the G.I. JOE Heroscape: Rumble at the Rift Battle Box which see’s the Joe’s and Cobra, thanks to the bizarre inventions of the crazed Doctor Mindbender, transported far from Earth to another world known as ‘Valhalla’.

The Battle Box includes everything two players need to start playing, including 8 miniatures, modular hex terrain, COBRA Fortifications, dice, wound and order markers, and all the Army cards, rules and scenarios for endless hours of fun.

A tabletop scene features a modular hex terrain setup from the G.I. JOE Heroscape game, showcasing various hexagonal tiles in shades of green, black, and beige. Several miniatures, including characters wielding weapons, are positioned on the terrain, with some standing on raised hexes. Nearby, there are dice, wound markers, and Army cards, indicating the game's components for play.

The figures in the core set consist of Duke, Scarlett Roadblock, Snake Eyes, COBRA Commander, Destro, Storm Shadow, and Doctor Mindbender.

Hitting stores at the same time are the COBRA Troopers and COBRA Fight Pod Army Expansion, Greenshirts and Battle Copter Army Expansion, Strike Forces Army Expansion, the Caverns of Valhalla and Urban Landscape of Valhalla terrain packs, and a pack of Premium Would Markers.

A collection of modular hex terrain pieces for the G.I. JOE Heroscape game, featuring over 110 hexes and four rock outcrops. The terrain is designed in shades of gray and features textured surfaces, with some hexes displaying a snowy or icy appearance. The packaging includes dimensions for the rock outcrops, emphasizing their height, and is branded with the Heroscape logo and publisher information.

Heroscape started life back in 2004 when Hasbro released the first Heroscape Master Set: Rise of the Valkyrie. The game went on to have dozens of expansions as well as Marvel and Dungeons & Dragons spin-offs. Renegade Game Studios revived the line Heroscape Master Set: Age of Annihilation and Heroscape: Battle for the Wellspring Battle Box sets in 2024, and have been releasing additional sets and terrain since.
