Have You Baaa-cked The Sheep on Kickstarter?

A large, cartoonish sheep stands prominently in the foreground, holding a lantern in its mouth, set against a dark, eerie landscape with trees and a winding path. The title "The Sheep" is displayed in bold, golden letters at the top, while the tagline "DON'T LET THEM CATCH YOU SLEEPING." is positioned below. A circular badge in the bottom left corner indicates that the project was "Funded in 20 Minutes."

Body

Zero Strategy Games’ The Sheep has gambolled into its final fortnight on Kickstarter.

Described as ‘cooperative comedy-horror game for 2-4 players’, The Sheep invites players to assume the roles of Shepherds hired to escort caravans to the next town. To do so, however, they must journey across a deceptively pleasant looking, verdant wilderness. But this seemingly green and pleasant land hides a flock of apex predators: the titular sheep! By day, these sheep are normal and friendly; come sundown, however, they transform into flesh-eating, bloodthirsty monsters!

Players play one of six Shepherds, each of which has been designed to provide ‘a different gaming experience each playthrough,’ and offer ‘multiple options for advancement’. The players’ efforts to get their flock to safety is also further complicated by random events, sheep mutations and curses. The players’ hopes of success are predicated upon repelling the mutated, meat-eating mutton and levelling up their characters by purchasing new gear and gaining powerful curses.

The Sheep offers a number of different pledge levels, rewards and add-ons; these include the core game, a wooden box insert / organiser, STL files, a candle and a deceptively cute plushie sheep. Having already attracted pledges in excess of £200,000, the campaign has also unlocked all of its stretch goals: these include additional cards, a cloth bag in which to hold your sheeples, and foil card backs and tokens.

See the Kickstarter page for more details.
