When reality bites hard, it’s tempting to retreat to safe online spaces - sometimes though, the outside world shouts so loud that virtual and actual realms collide.
StartPlaying - the California based platform connecting players with professional GMs - has launched a fundraiser for the Immigrant Rapid Response Fund (IRRF), hosted by the Women's Foundation of Minnesota, providing emergency support to immigrant communities affected by federal enforcement operations, covering essentials like food, housing, legal services, and transportation.
For all IRRF charity games through February, StartPlaying is waiving their standard 15% platform fee entirely and matching GM contributions dollar-for-dollar up to $3,000, with every penny going directly to the fund.
GMs opt-in to the fundraiser through StartPlaying's dedicated events system. Players book as normal and the donation happens automatically. The campaign runs until the end of February at StartPlaying.games, with charity sessions flagged in the platform's event listings.
We’re not the thought police, nor armchair experts (unlike most of the internet), but like everyone else who grew up looking to the USA for heroes and pop-culture (and the very root of our hobby!), the current events have had such an unexpected impact on us, that we’re wondering how we can help.
If this is a call you’re driven to answer, StartPlaying today.

It’s been almost forty years since Ereb Altor was first introduced to the world in the Swedish Sinkadus magazine. It became the first major campaign world for the Dragonbane RPG and, thanks to Helmgast AB and Astrolab Game Studios, will be seeing an English-language release later this year after a crowdfunding campaign due this summer.
