BBC Studios announce Bluey is coming to Catan

BBC Studios have been talking about their 2027 licensing plans for the popular childrens cartoon Bluey. This, in and of itself, is not something I’d generally be talking about on Tabletop Sentinel but in amongst the news of Bluey lunchboxes, fruit spreads, stringy cheeses, bath sponges, and LEGO sets, something caught my eye…

For families who love to gather around the table, a new licensing agreement with the iconic CATAN will bring Bluey into the world of tabletop gaming across the U.S., Canada, the UK, Australia, New Zealand, and the Nordics in 2027.

The official Settlers of Catan Instagram account also carried confirmation of the partnership…

Nothing is currently known about the game, other than it will be Catan so will presumably involve building and trading. Catan Studios do publish a Catan Junior version of the game for ages 6+, so I would imagine a Bluey edition could be more along those lines, but at present it’s just a waiting game for further information.

2027 is shaping up to be an important year for Bluey as Disney are releasing the first Bluey feature film, with a worldwide release date of 6th August 2027. So I would expect to see the Catan game, as well as those string cheeses and pasta shapes, on the market by then.

If your kids, or you, are a Bluey fan and want some boardgaming action before then you are also in luck, as 2026 should be seeing Hasbro releasing co-branded games of Operation, Guess Who?, Bop It!, and others later in the year.
