Ikusa Samurai Swords 40th Anniversary Edition Ends Soon
Body
Renegade Games Studio’s crowdfunding campaign for the 40th anniversary edition of Ikusa Samurai Swords ends in two days.
Now live on Gamefound, this nostalgic campaign brings the fondly remembered Shogun boardgame bang up to date. First published by Milton Bradley in 1986 and then rereleased in the mid-nineties as Samurai Swords and then as Ikusa by Avalon Hill in 2011, the game has remained a nostalgic favourite. Now Renegade Games Studio are bringing this classic game back for a third bite of the sakuranbo.
Set in feudal Japan, the game sees two to five players controlling fictional warlords as they vie for the title of Shogun. Gameplay allows players to control a number of daimyo as they command an army. Each of these armies features samurai swordsmen, bowmen, and ashigaru spearmen and gunners. Mercenaries and a ninja assassin can also be hired. .
This new, 40th anniversary edition is replete with ‘upgraded components, striking new art. Premium-quality pieces and more.’ It includes over 300 miniatures, 15 castles and fortifications, a pimped-out gameboard with gold foil and spot UV, and a host of army boards, player screens, trays, metal coins, embroidered cloth bags, dice and more. Even a cynical so-and-so like me has to admit that it does look the dog’s kogan.
This swanky new edition will only be available via this campaign.
