Themeborne are bringing not one game to Gamefound, but two.
Launching soon, Themeborne’s new campaign will not only seek funding for their new title, Escape the Dark Forest, but also the second edition of their very first release, Escape the Dark Castle.
It’s been ten years since the release of Escape the Dark Castle, and Themeborne are celebrating with a swanky update for this perennial favourite. Promising ‘greater variety’, ‘better balance’ and ‘new gameplay features including ranged combat and a stamina system’, this updated version has been designed to make gameplay ‘less random, more roguelike’ whilst retaining the first edition’s ‘classic style and spirit’.
This anniversary edition is also joined by a new member of the family: Escape the Dark Forest. This new title takes the adventure beyond the claustrophobic confines of the titular castle and into the equally intimidating forest which surrounds it. Not only does this sequel introduce a brand-new adventure and landscape, but it also unleashes two new mechanics—Darkness and Fear—onto its unsuspecting players.
Whilst the exact launch date has yet to be confirmed, Themeborne indicate the campaign will go live this month (October). As an added bonus, all backers will receive an free and exclusive dark castle miniature with their pledge.
See the Gamefound preview page for more details.
