Hasbro has released Priorities: A Court of Thorns and Roses Edition, a themed version of its existing party game Priorities. The new edition replaces the original game’s prompts with characters, locations and story moments from Sarah J. Maas’s A Court of Thorns and Roses (ACOTAR) series.

The game’s format remains the same: one player takes the role of the High Lord and secretly ranks five cards from “love” to “loathe”. The other players, as the Inner Circle, try to guess the order. Correct guesses earn cards, and the group races to spell “PRIORITIES” to win. The edition is currently available in the US through Amazon and Target.

Who is Sarah J. Maas?

Maas is an American fantasy author best known for three series: Throne of Glass, A Court of Thorns and Roses (often shortened to ACOTAR) and Crescent City. ACOTAR blends fantasy and romance, following characters amid the courts and conflicts of the magical land of Prythian.

Her books have sold more than 75 million copies and been published in 40 languages, according to her publisher, Bloomsbury. Maas was the bestselling author in the US in 2024 and the UK’s number-one bestselling fantasy author in 2025.

The ACOTAR series has become one of the biggest and most popular examples of the recent “romantasy” boom, helped by a large online readership. Its popularity is also apparent in UK sales: the first book, A Court of Thorns and Roses, sold 224,535 paperback copies in 2025, placing tenth in the year’s UK bestseller list.

A game for the fan community

Priorities is a light social game rather than a strategy adaptation of the novels. Its appeal lies in using the licence to prompt conversation: players have to predict how a friend ranks characters and story elements, bringing familiar fan debates into a group activity. This release is a straightforward licence-driven refresh with Hasbro carrying an established party-game format into a large, active book-fan community.

The timing also puts the game on shelves in front of fans ahead of the sixth book in the A Court of Thorns and Roses series, A Court of Splintered Harmony, which is being published on 27th October 2026.
