Final Fantasy Legend Yoshitaka Amano Draws One Piece Cards

Legendary Japanese artist Yoshitaka Amano, best known internationally for his work on the Final Fantasy series, has turned his distinctive style and talents to produce a couple of cards for the One Piece Card Game.

Originally released to celebrate One Piece’s 25th anniversray, the card game is now in its fourth year having been a massive success since release. Publisher Bandai attended the One Piece Day 26 event over the weekend and revealed that Amano has created original artwork for two cards appearing in the forthcoming OP-18: The Dominance of God booster set, due for release this November.

The two cards are Saint Shamrock and Loki.

The Saint Shamrock illustration appears on a 9000-power character card. Loki, the gigantic prince of Elbaf, appears on an 8000-power card.

This isn’t the first time that the One Piece Card Game has recruited high-profile guest artists, with Gege Akutami (creator of Jujutsu Kaisen) illustrating the Five Elders card in OP-13, and Keisuke Itagaki (creator of Baki) illustrating Kaido in OP-17.

Amano’s ethereal style has appeared on numerous novels, comics, and animation, but is probably best known for his character designs, logo work, and concept art in the Final Fantasy series of games.

OP-18: The Dominance of God is due to receive a simultaneous international release, meaning UK collectors won’t have to wait to get their hands on the cards asthey should be available at the same as they are released in Japan.
