Star Wars: Legion Heads to Hoth

In the next week we’re seeing four new Star Wars: Legion miniature expansions hitting the shelves, and theyhave a decidedly chilly feel to them. Yes, we’re heading to the winter wonderland that is Hoth courtesy of Atomic Mass Games latest sets.

Regrouping after the battle of Yavin, the Rebel Alliance established Echo Base on planet Hoth. Fortified and well armed, Echo Base was a defensible position that Hoth’s heavy snowfall gave the converted Wampa den natural camouflage. The Echo Base Defenders Special Edition Starter Set contains a 600-point Recon-level army, including a Special Edition alternate sculpt of Gerneral Leia Organa.

Tauntauns became a trusted form of transportation for the Rebel Alliance on Hoth, their speed making them a favored option for rebel commanders to swiftly move through the frontline to lead their troops. In the Captain Solo & Commander Skywalker on Tauntauns set we get Luke Skywalker as a new Commander option, while Han Solo is a new Operative option for the Rebel Alliance and Echo Base Defender Battle Forces. Each brings new Command Cards and abilities to help the Rebellion in its fight againt the Empire.

Talking of which, the Galactic Empire sent probing drones across the galaxy and located the Rebel Alliance stronghold on the planet Hoth, with the palent’s extreme weather granting the rebels another level of defense. Deploying troops that were trained and outfitted for combat effectiveness in extreme cold, the Galactic Empire’s Army, led by Darth Vader, would launch an assault to destroy Excho Vase… The Blizzard Force Special Edition Starter Set includes enough units for miniatures to build a 600 point Recon army, including a Special Edition alternate sculpt of Darth Vader.

Lastly, and not directly Hoth related, we’re getting the Imperial High Command pack. The Imperial High Command may be the mind behind the Imperial Army, but each commander has their own approach to commanding their troops. From strategic deployment and R&D to sabotage and pure might. They may not agree on their methods but they all want to end any rebellion. This expansion adds 4 new Commander options for players when building their Galactic Empire Army.
