Chaosium Announce Raft of New Titles at Chaosium Con UK

Chaosium Con UK took place over the Spring Bank Holiday weekend in Cranfield, Bedfordshire. The event saw several hundred fans of Call of Cthulhu, RuneQuest, Pendragon, and all things Chaosium descend upon the university, joined by a number of Chaosium staffers and freelancers, to play, celebrate, and talk about all things Chaosium. Chaosium took the opportunity to also unveil a host of new titles coming out later this year.

Overall ten new books were announced at the con, for Rivers of London, Pendragon, RuneQuest, Age of Vikings, and Call of Cthulhu.

The Boy King is the first campaign book for Pendragon 6th Edition, and the first book in the Great Pendragon Campaign. The Boy King covers the first 18 years of the campaign, and explores a war-torn Britain endeavouring to pull itself out of a generation of anarchy, war, and petty squabbles. The Boy King will be joined by additional volumes over the next two yeras, but each volume can be played as a stand-alone campaign or as part of an even more epic story arc. Each volume in the series will cover about 20 years of time and include scenarios for both launching and wrapping up your campaign in a narratively satisfying fashionn, should you wish to stick to a single volume’s material. The book will be available in three different versions - a standard edition, a collector’s leatherette edition, and a special limited edition with an alternate cover. The Boy King will debut at Gen Con in the States in August followed by a worldwide release the same month.

The Rivers of London RPG, based on the urban fantasy novels by Ben Aaronovitch, sees two new releases. First up is Dead Letter, a solo case file that is perfect for first-time gamers as you’ll be taught the rules as you play. For group play we’ll be getting No Place Like Home, which is a collection of case files by authors Lucya Szachnowski, John Davies, Stuart Sellens, Helena Nash and Lynne Hardy. Dead Letter is due for release in July, with No Place Like Home following in August.

The Apple Lane Campaign for RuneQuest is due to hit our shelves in October. The book is a collection of three adventures, designed to introduce new players and Gamemasters to the world of Glorantha. The book also includes campaign setting information for Apple Lane and it’s environs, all new Sartar encounters, and more.

September will see your adventures in Mythic Iceland expand with the release of the Age of Vikings Companion. Although the title and cover are the only things to have been revealed for this so far, the cover hints that we may be getting rules for non-Icelandic characters. Chaosium have promised more details to follow.

The remaining five announcements are all Call of Cthulhu titles. A new printing of the Keeper Tips book is coming in August, with a 40th anniversary leatherette cover. The book includes essays and tips from a variety of experienced Call of Cthulhu Keepers across a wide range of topics including game preparation, designing scenarios, combat, horror, sanity, and much more.

The Keeper Companion, by Mike Mason and Paul Fricker, offers up a load of optional rules, Keeper advice, and brand new scenarios to keep the Investigators busy. The Keeper Companion has a September street date.

Cthulhu by Gaslight is getting a Keeper’s Screen Pack in October. Designed specifically for the era the screen artwork facing the players will feature two 2-panel designs dripping with flavour.

November will see a book that many Investigators will welcome, even if their Credit Ratings might not. The Call of Cthulhu : Tools of the Trade is a 1920’s equipment and weapons guide and will no doubt become an invaluable sourcebook for future games.

Lastly, although one of the first books to be released, is the latest in Chaosium’s series of New England town guides. Innsmouth will be available in both a standard and limited edition. Innsmouth is the second book in the series, after Arkham which came out back in 2024. Innsmouth will explore the towns neighbourhoods, with plenty of fully-detailed NPCs and scenario seeds to keep you occupied.
