Harrowhound Miniatures Announce Future of John Blanche's En Garde

Harrowhound Miniatures LLC, who recently ran the John Blanche’s En Garde - VanguardKickstarter to raise money for a new series of 54mm miniatures that John Blanche created the designs and concept for, have released a statement about the campaign and the future of the planned game in the wake of John’s sad passing earlier this week.

THE FUTURE OF EN GARDE

The loss of our leader and the soul of the project, as well as our beloved friend is a burden that for the last few days has at times felt insurmountable, but it is still a cross we have to bear. We also owe it to the backers and John’s supporters to speak up and clearly communicate the future of the project. So here goes:

The full game of En Garde will be completed.

We are fortunate that John had already finished the concept art for the project, and detailed the creative vision on which the game is based. Though his leadership, artistic guidance and creative oversight will be sorely missed, it is now the duty and privilege of those of us left behind to try and honour what John set out to do to the best of our abilities.

Why do it? We could give many reasons why we will finish and launch En Garde: We gave our word to John that we would see the game to its completion. It will help his family, and allow us to share some of the final pieces of art John ever created. It will be a great chance for a new generation of talent associated with the project to share their work, for John was all about fostering and growing new artists. We also believe En Garde will be a thrilling game that people will enjoy for many years to come.

All these things are true, and as good reasons as any to carry on. But there is one, even more vital imperative to see En Garde into completion.

We will finish En Garde because that is what John wanted.

John Blanche, a visionary artist who helped create the look of many Games Workshop lines from the late 70’s onwards, and inspired many gamers and artists with this distinctive style, sadly passed away earlier this week. You can read our obituary of him here.
