One Launch to Bring Them All: Free League Unveils Triple Tolkien Release Day

Two roleplaying game books are displayed side by side against a dark background. On the left, "Hands of the White Wizard" features a shadowy illustration of a group of figures ascending stone steps, hinting at a mysterious setting. On the right, "Trials of Saruman" showcases a striking image of Saruman, depicted in a flowing robe, standing before a pedestal with a glowing orb, surrounded by ethereal light. Both covers highlight their respective titles prominently at the bottom.

Free League Publishing will be kicking off the summer with a trio of new Lord of the Rings books for The One Ring and The Lord of the Rings roleplaying games. June 2nd will see the release of Hobbit Tales and Hands of the White Wizard for The One Ring, whilst the fifth edition powered The Lord of the Rings sees the release of Trials of Saruman.

A dimly lit stone chamber features a large, ornate table with an open book, where a figure with a long beard and robes is seated, appearing to write or read. In the foreground, two figures are seen entering through a partially open door, one reaching out as if startled, while a ghostly figure emerges from the doorway, adding an element of tension. The architecture is grand, with tall columns and intricate stonework, enhancing the mysterious atmosphere of the scene.

The Trials of Saruman and Hands of the White Wizard contain the same content sleeved to correspond to their respective system. Both books include six adventures that can be played individually or as part of a larger campaign.

Set between the year 2965 of the Third Age and the opening moves of the War of the Ring, Hands of the White Wizard and Trials of Saruman invite players to serve or watch Saruman the White before the treachery of Isengard begins. Across six adventures, players will journey to Isengard and decide whether Saruman’s doom is already written or whether they can still change his fate and save the White Wizard from corruption.

For Saruman the White is Lord of Isengard, a counsellor to kings, a master of Ringlore, and chief adversary of the Enemy. Great is his wisdom, yet greater still is his pride.
