Hit the Town with Crooked Dice

Five fantasy miniatures are displayed, showcasing a diverse group of tavern patrons and townsfolk. From left to right, there is a grinning old man with a cane, a stout man in a brown tunic, a woman in a green and red cloak holding a tankard, and a woman in a black dress with a playful expression. The background features the title "TAVERN & TOWNSFOLK" in bold lettering, indicating the theme of the upcoming Kickstarter campaign.

Crooked Dice are preparing to launch their next Kickstarter.

Entitled Taverns & Townsfolk, this new campaign will feature not only a rogues gallery of patrons and piss artists you would expect to find in ye olde fantasy tavern, but also a lineup of various villagers and colourful characters. There’s also a very cool collection of tavern furniture to be had.

A detailed scene inside a fantasy tavern features several painted miniatures. In the foreground, a woman in a red skirt brandishes a sword, while a man in a blue tunic stands nearby. Behind the bar, a female bartender interacts with a cloaked figure, and various bottles and mugs are visible on the shelves. The tavern's rustic wooden furniture and stone walls create an immersive atmosphere.

Whilst the details of pledges, stretch goals and what have you are unknown to us at this juncture, we can already tell this is going to be an ideal campaign for fans of fantasy RPGs.

A miniature figure of a gnome with a long beard and a red pointed hat sits atop a wooden cart pulled by a dark brown donkey. The cart is laden with various items, including sacks and a small barrel, and is set against a backdrop of rocky terrain and green foliage. The scene captures a whimsical, fantasy-inspired atmosphere, perfect for a tabletop RPG setting.

I spoke to Karl at Crooked Dice about this cool campaign, and he informed me that he aims to keep the campaign ‘nice and simple’; it will run for one week only, and will only feature miniatures. Said miniatures will be separated into two batches of 16 miniatures each: Tavern and Townsfolk. All of these minis are taken from, to quote Karl, ‘the exquisite Otherworld NPC range that we bought when Richard retired’ and will also include six or so sculpts by the inimitable Paul Hicks.

Add-ons will include miniatures from Crooked Dice’s Townsfolk ranges and, to quote Karl once again, ‘a lovely new set of Tavern terrain from Iain “White Shark” Gonzalez’.

A collection of detailed miniatures representing various fantasy tavern patrons and villagers, arranged in two rows on textured bases. The figures include a mix of characters such as a hooded figure, a woman holding a tray of baked goods, and several others in period-appropriate attire, showcasing a variety of poses and expressions. The overall scene captures the lively atmosphere of a fantasy tavern setting, ideal for tabletop RPGs.
