Games Workshop has unveiled Battlefields: Armageddon – Ready-painted Terrain, describing it as the first ready-painted plastic terrain set for Warhammer 40,000.

Announced in the company’s 11th October Sunday Preview, the set is designed to put a complete battlefield on the table quickly. It includes enough terrain, gaming boards and terrain-area footprints to build any mission layout in the Chapter Approved 2026–27 Mission Deck. Games Workshop says the pieces are ready-painted and push-fit, so players can use them without painting or glue, which is great for those of us who aren’t as nimble fingered and sighted but enjoy miniature gaming.

The box contains:

  • Eight Large Manufactorum Ruins and eight Small Manufactorum Ruins

  • Two Shock Arrays and two Capacitor Stacks

  • Four Rockcrete Barricades

  • Two Generator Shrines

  • Four Galvanic Pylons

Several parts can also be customised to suit a player’s preferred battlefield layout. Games Workshop says the set will be available to pre-order next week, with a limited quantity initailly available.

A shorter route to a finished table

Building and painting terrain can add a lot of work to starting, or expanding, a miniature wargame collection. Battlefields: Armageddon offers a ready-to-use option for players who want a complete, themed table without taking on that extra project.

That could also make the set useful for clubs and game stores. A consistent terrain collection that can be set up quickly may help with demo games, events and regular play, where tables need to look inviting and be ready for use.

Hopefully the set will show Games Workshop that there is a demand for more ready-painted terrain but, for now, Games Workshop’s wording leaves the range’s future open. The company has confirmed the set and its limited availability, but has not announced any futher ready-painted terrain products at this time.
