At certain points in the year you get a flurry of new product announcements. These usually coincide with trade shows or at conventions. But one other date often see’s a deluge of new goodies to whet the appetite… April 1st.
Of course, more often than not, most of these products never make it to our gaming shelves… although stranger things have happened. Due to overhwlming fan demand Fantasy Flight Games made their 2019 April Fool’s joke a reality and ended up releasing Barkham Horror: The Meddling of Meowlathotep, a standalone dog-themed expansion for the Arkham Horror: The Card Game that saw canine versions of investigators battling evil cats.
Will any of this years crop go the same way? Probably not, but I would love to see Hasbro/Avalon Hill’s announcement today actually see the light. Let’s face it a Lord of the Rings themed HeroQuest would kick some serious uruk-butt… Just imagine a Mines of Moria set…

Some of todays other announcements have been a new standalone edition of the racing game HEAT by Days of Wonder, the Lawn Mower Edition. A Tiny Epic Company of Heroes and on the roleplaying front Chaosium announced a new RuneQuest supplement, the Cocaine Jack-o-Bear!

What’s your favourite April Fool’s announcement today? Is there one that you really wish would be true and not just a cruel joke?
