Body

Chaosium have announced Time Without Tide - a brand new original tabletop roleplaying game of exploration and adventure within a fog shrouded, faux-Victorian, post-apocalyptic world.

Time Without Tide, written and designed by David Naylor and James Coquillat, sees Chaosium depart from their signature d100 Basic Roleplay System in favour of a brand new dice pool system using 6-sided dice. Players take on the roles of Delvers, a determined hero who journeys beyond the safe havens of the fortified walls in to the mutating Unknown.

THE AGE OF DECADENCE

Humanity churns forward through an industrious era of boundless innovation. Throughout the cobbled streets of great cities, wondrous machines appear in showers of blue sparks, carrying well-dressed gentlefolk to sophisticated social engagements. In beautiful terraced parks, dogs chase one another across manicured lawns. Above a clock tower, our pale moon rises to replace the fading amber of the setting sun. The clock tower strikes four. Its painted marionettes lurch forward on rails, farewelling the gently fading day,

A crowd forms below the clock face. They murmur, wail, and cry out; building to pandemoniac cacophony. Dark cats wind through the forest of buckling legs, ears aflutter. They crane their long necks up to peer up past the crowd. A tremendous white milk saucer fills the sky.

The moon falls…

THE TIME WITHOUT TIDE

Humanity lingers among twisted reflections of its former glory. Throughout the fog-drenched streets of ruined cities, jittery scavengers comb through rubble for scraps of supplies. In overgrown parks, grubby orphans race between thorny bushes while their mutated spider-dogs skitter giddily in pursuit. A clock tower strikes four oblivious pedestrians. It swallows their unconscious bodies whole; new marionettes now added to its collection.

The Sundering shattered humanity’s illusion of supremacy. Lunar meteors leveled the great cities, undoing millennia of human achievement in an instant. As the old world collapsed, something Unknown dripped from the wound-like empty hollow that was all that was left of the fallen moon.

A writhing fog. A creeping mist. It slid through every forest, moor, and darkened street. It sought unwary life outside of the protection of light, then choked and changed it into eldritch abominations.

The sun is dim. The night is black. Horrors move in the dark. Soon, they will devour us all.
