Games Workshop Reveal New Middle-earth Supplement and Accompanying Miniatures

Aldrac, Warlord of Carn Dûm

Games Workshop have revealed the cover for their next Middle-earth supplement, Rise of Angmar. Not only that, but they've also graced us with a look at the remaining miniatures that will be accompany the book and some of those miniatures' special rules.

A 112-page supplement, Rise of Angmar details the origins of Angmar, and the Witch-King's ascension and his campaigns against the kingdom of Arnor.

Rise of Angmar is accompanied by a slew of new Middle-earth miniatures. These include the leader of the Warriors of Carn Dûm, Aldrac; Witch-king fanboy and man of Carn Dûm, Fráecht; Aragorn's ancestor and chieftain of the Dúnedain, Aranarth; the evil Shadow of Rhudaur; and Buhrdûr the Hill Troll chieftain.

This all star / ill-starred lineup is also bolstered by an assortment of hill trolls and werewolves.

See the Games Workshop website for more details, including these new models' special rules.

"Off With Their Heads!" A Preview of Little Soldier Company's Forthcoming Alice in Wonderland Chess Set

Alice in Gerunderland Red Queen and King

Tabletop Sentinel doesn't only feature tabletop gaming's grandees; we like the little guys too. From the one-man bands making minis and games in their spare time, to the small companies ploughing their own furrow, we cover 'em all.

The Little Soldier Company is one such indie company. With highlights including an officially licensed Noggin the Nog range, Martin Buck's characterful take on Napoleonics, and the Kev Adam's Slann-style Tenochs, they produce a host of beautiful miniatures. Oh, and they also make a toilet mimic, so that's a new must-have for your D&D games, right?

They also have a new Alice in Geründerland chess set in the works. Sculpted in the style of classic Alice in Wonderland illustrator John Tenniel, these chess pieces are packed with personality. Although only a handful have been sculpted so far (most notably the glorious Red Queen and her king), it's easy to see this is going to a be a very cool, very quirky collection of miniatures. It will also make a great addition to any Lewis Carroll collection.
