The winners of the 2026 ENNIE Awards for tabletop roleplaying games were anounced at a special ceremony on the Friday night of Gen Con.

The prestigious Spiel des Jahres winners, boardgamings equivalent of The Oscars, were revealed on Sunday during a live-streamed awards ceremony held at the Berlin Music Hall... seeing both a first time winner and a returning old hand come away with trophies.

The 2026 ENNIE AWARD nominations have been unveiled, and this year also sees a brand new category for Best Solo Game.

The Origins Game Fair took place in Columbus, Ohio, over 17-21 June and, with it, the announcement of this years winners of The Origins Awards. The Origins Awards, and the show itself, have been running since 1975 and have been held in Columbus since 1996.

UK Games Expo took over the NEC in Birmingham this last weekend, breaking records, blistering feet, and making the national news in several outlets including the BBC. Tabletop Sentinel were in attendance throughout the show and had an absolutely fantastic time.

The Spiel des Jahres (Game of the Year) awards were first created in 1978, celebrating the best in board and card game design. Even being nominated for the award can bring in a massive sales boost for the games, with the winner often selling 500,000+ copies. It is one of the few awards in the games industry that has a major effect on sales and exposure. The awards, and nominations, are usually covered in the mainstream news in Germany.

The Golden Geek Awards are run, and voted on by the users of, BoardGameGeek, the world’s largest online community and database for tabletop board and card games. The nominees are from a selection of games released over the course of previous year, with the winners presented with their Awards at the BoardGameGeek Convention (BGG.Con) in Dallas.

The winners of the UK Games Expo Judges’ Choice Awards 2026 have been announced. In addition to winning their own categories each winner is now entered into the People’s Choice Awards in one of four categories that will be voted on by the attendees of UK Game Expo, which runs from Friday 29th to Sunday 31st May at the NEC, Birmingham. The winners of this public vote will then be announced at 3pm on the main stage in Hall 2 on Sunday 31st May.
