Thought Punks unveils “Secrets in the Static”, a tabletop roleplaying game where reality fractures through corrupted broadcasts. Set in Wavelength, a town lost to official records and trapped in an endless broadcast loop, players face psychological horror as a mysterious signal transforms their world into echoes of Twin Peaks and Mulholland Drive.

Players navigate a world where reality bends to the will of a sinister signal infecting all forms of media. Less TikTok era media manipulation, more Laura Palmers madness leaking into your pysche via the moist inputs of your meat sack.

Black has depth… you can go into it… And you start seeing what you’re afraid of. You start seeing what you love, and it becomes like a dream.

The game features a three-dice system where players confront surreal horrors while managing their exposure to the corrupting broadcast. Characters risk losing their identities as they gain supernatural abilities, with success determined by interpreting different aspects of each roll. First release is planned for March 2025.

There’s already a working playtest module here: https://thoughtpunks.com/secrets-in-the-static-the-ghost-town-of-wavelength/ set in a minimalist world that David Lynch and Jeff Vandermeer would feel at home in, this has great potential for ‘Theatre of the mind’ roleplayers. It might probably work great as a software/AR experience too, and if done right? Scarier than the ‘Prince of Darkness’ dream sequence.
