The Vampire Games Day
Stakes, Lies, and Conservation Tape: Vampires Bite Back at Derby Museum
Derby Museums and Mythic Echoes are throwing open the coffin lid this May 3rd, The Vampire Games Day transforming The Wardwick at Derby Museum and Art Gallery into a haven for heavy eyeliner and undercooked steak enthusiasts to celebrate the city's Gothic literary heritage and particularly Bram Stokers ‘Dracula’.
Part of the broader 'Dracula Returns To Derby' initiative, exploring the city's links to Stoker's immortal tale, as featured in the original novel through the fictional Alldale Gazette, and that the world premiere of the original play was held at Derbys Grand Theatre in 1924.
Eight sucky adventures await mirror dodgers - with systems including Vampire: The Masquerade 5th Edition, Dungeons & Dragons 5E, and several specialist rulesets. Game highlights include "Make Blood Boil", where players navigate vampire politics in a modern setting, and "Eat the Reich", casting players as vampire commandos in 1943 Paris - both somehow still more plausible than our current timeline, but I digress.
Title | System/GM | Notes |
Make Blood Boil | Vampire the Masquerade (5th edition) | A race against time |
Eat the Reich | Eat the Reich | Drink all of Hitler’s blood! |
(UN)dead Space | Dungeon & Dragons 5E homebrew | The station is quiet, too quiet… |
Bereft in Deadly Bloom | Vaesen | Deep in the arctic circle |
The Curious Case of the Wilhelms | StokerVerse | “Help!” |
Blackout Bay | Dungeons & Dragons 5E | Eerie thick fog |
Strahd Must Die… Tonight! | Dungeons & Dragons 5E | At the entrance to castle Ravenloft! |
Secrets of Spireholm | Shiver | Concerned Citizens of Spireholm |
Beyond the gaming tables, theres a raffle, with prizes for the best-dressed player and table layouts.

A stylized illustration of a vampire with prominent fangs and bat-like wings is centered against a dark blue background. The vampire has a serious expression, dressed in a formal suit, and is flanked by gaming elements like a twenty-sided die and a pair of dice, suggesting a tabletop gaming theme. Text on the left and right sides highlights "8 Game Masters" and "6 Hours of Terror," emphasizing the event's focus on role-playing games.

The image shows the exterior of the Derby Museum and Art Gallery, a modern brick building with large windows. The entrance features a sign that reads "Derby Museum and Art Gallery," and there are bicycles parked nearby. In the background, a church spire is visible, rising above the museum, indicating the urban setting of the location. The scene is well-lit, suggesting a clear day.

The image features the title "Vampire Games Day" prominently displayed in a bold, Gothic-style font, evoking a dark and mysterious atmosphere. The background shows a historic building, likely the Grand Theatre in Derby, with intricate architectural details, hinting at the event's connection to Gothic literature and Bram Stoker's "Dracula." The overall color scheme is dark, enhancing the eerie theme associated with vampires and the event.
