TAGS Fest: Finding Your People in Edinburgh's Small Press Revival

The TAGS Fest, a Tabletop and Graphic Storytelling Festival, is set to take place at Edinburgh's Fruitmarket on October 25th and 26th, 2025. This year marks its third iteration, expanding to a full weekend and featuring over 50 independent creators and speakers who have carved out their own paths outside mainstream publishing.

The festival aims to foster community and connection, especially for those in Scotland's independent publishing scene, which has faced significant challenges. Attendees can expect a vibrant atmosphere filled with opportunities to meet local authors, play games, and engage in discussions about creative careers.

The event will also include a Board Game Zone curated by Ancient Robot Games, offering a variety of games for drop-in play. With free entry and no tickets required, TAGS Fest is designed to encourage people to come together, share their passions, and find a sense of belonging in a supportive environment.

There are fewer and fewer spaces where people can come together, especially for free. Scotland's small press community has weathered chronic underfunding whilst watching local creative spaces vanish beneath spiralling costs. Convention tables that foster careers have become unaffordable, many of the stepping stones that turn hobbyists into professionals have simply ceased to exist.

Winchester Tales: Demonic Incursions and Ecumenical Matters. Careful Now.

A figure in a dark coat and hat stands with their back to the viewer, facing a large, gothic-style church illuminated by a single light in the upper window. The scene is set in a rainy atmosphere, with droplets visible in the air, and the church is surrounded by a wrought-iron fence, adding to the ominous ambiance. The overall color palette is dark and moody, enhancing the sense of mystery and foreboding.

Norman conquest, Saxon kings, and now demonic incursions, Winchester's medieval streets have seen it all, apparently. Two Starving Gnolls deliver a new supplement for The Exorcist's Codex™ that relocates the game's structured demon-hunting to 1890s Winchester and its surrounding countryside and featuring eleven scenarios, exploring the city's layered history of faith, corruption, and demonic scheming. Down with that sort of thing, presumably.
