Buer Games are preparing to launch 1490 DOOM.
Details are thin at the moment, but the preview page for the game’s forthcoming Gamefound campaign reveals 1490 Doom is ‘a tabletop war game set in a grimdark world between 1490 and 1494’. Players field ‘Doom Companies’ fighting for survival in a world besieged by a deadly plague. These Doom Companies scavenge and fight for dwindling resources, and, as one would expect, that combat is just as brutal and deadly as the all-consuming contagion.
Gameplay promises to be quick, with each player only fielding three miniatures. But the game is not only concerned with combat; players must also ensure their miniatures scale terrain and buildings to better their chances of survival; or, as the landing page puts it: ‘Victory belongs to the Company that seizes the high ground—because down below, there is only death’.
On a personal level, this one is ticking quite a few boxes for me. The miniatures look great and, more importantly, I love the concept. Suffice to say, I’ll be following this one with keen interest.
See the Gamefound preview page for more details.

A detailed scene features a medieval-style castle tower made of dark stone, complete with battlements and blue banners hanging from the windows. In the foreground, a knight in armor holds a shield adorned with a checkered pattern, standing ready for battle. The background is filled with a dramatic red sky, enhancing the grimdark atmosphere of the setting. The text "NOW ON gamefound" is prominently displayed in the lower corner, along with a badge indicating a tabletop gaming award.
