Games Workshop Preview a Plethora of New Products (Part Two: the Leagues of Votann)

Hello again, and welcome to this second part of our continuing look at Friday’s smorgasbord of Games Workshop previews.

If you missed Games Workshop’s massive preview of their new and upcoming releases, then fear not, for Tabletop Sentinel are here to bring you a reprise of all those new grimdark-tastic tasters.

This particular instalment will focus entirely on the upcoming Leagues of Votann goodies. We will cover the new Age of Sigmar and Old World in reveals in a separate article….

So, are you sitting comfortably? Then I’ll begin.

Buri Aegnirssen

Known by the very cool sobriquet ‘the Thrice-Devoured’, Buri is a new special character for the Leagues of Votann. The last survivor of a league devoured by Hive Fleet Leviathan, Buri deals with his anger management issues by rocking up, uninvited, to help other Leagues fight.

Arkanyst Evaluator

A detailed miniature of a character from the Leagues of Votann, featuring a robust figure with a large, round body and a prominent head. The character is equipped with a futuristic weapon in one hand and has various mechanical components and gadgets on their back, including a large pack with buttons and lights. The color scheme includes shades of gray, red, and teal, with a textured base that has tufts of grass, enhancing the overall sci-fi aesthetic.

Members of the science guilds responsible for testing new weapons, Arkanyst Evaluators rush into battles just so they can field test their latest weapons. This particular Evaluator is equipped with a transmatter inverter, and is just bursting to assess its ability to rend flesh at a cellular level.

Memnyr Strategist

The character has a prominent, rounded chest piece and is equipped with various high-tech devices, including multiple antennae and a weapon in one hand. The base is adorned with small rocks and grass, enhancing the sci-fi aesthetic of the model.

I’ll be honest, I read the description of this new model on the Games Workshop website and I didn’t understand a word of it. Maybe you’ll have better luck:

‘This shrewd and opportunistic chancer can be assigned to a unit of Steeljacks to use its kognitâar mantle to glorious effect. Said mantle allows the strategist to link to additional cerebral units and, in doing so, multiply its cognitive power; this will allow players to Fire Overwatch or make free Heroic Interventions each battle round. Not only that, but it will also allow players to gain Yield Points when the linked Strategists are near objectives.’

So, yeah, it does that.

Iron Steeljacks

Three miniature figures from the Leagues of Votann are displayed on a grassy base. The central figure, slightly taller, is equipped with a pistol and has a distinctive armor design featuring green and beige colors, along with a decorative belt. The two flanking figures are shorter, one holding a large futuristic weapon, while the other has a more relaxed stance with a hand raised, possibly gesturing. All three figures exhibit a robust, armored appearance typical of the faction's aesthetic.

These bonsai bad-asses are kitted out with heavy-duty armour and weapons. Born bruisers and nasty by nature, Steeljacks can weather incoming fire whilst using the Preymark Crest special rule to add Precision to any critical hits on enemies within range of an objective.

Cthonian Earthshakers

A group of miniatures from the Leagues of Votann is depicted, featuring a mix of humanoid figures and robotic elements. In the center, a large, cylindrical robot stands alongside smaller, stocky figures with mechanical arms, engaged in what appears to be maintenance or operation of equipment. The scene is set on a textured base with rocks and tufts of grass, enhancing the sci-fi aesthetic of the models. Various components, including a small drill and a crate, are also visible, adding to the detail of the display.

Nostalgia for the win! Mole mortars are back, baby!

Yes, they’ve been renamed ‘Cthonian Earthshakers’, but old crusties like me know heritage when we see it; these ‘new’ weapons ‘fire’ shells into the ground which emerge out of the ground to explode amongst the enemy … just like mole mortars.

Kapricus

These compact and light vehicles are used by Hernkyn Yaegirs as either swift weapons platform or troop transports. They feature ‘distinctive anti-grav repellers and curved armour panels’ and can be equipped with either a twin magna-coil autocannon or a HYLas rotary cannon.

Codex: Leagues of Votann

The rules for these models will be collected in a shiny new codex, as will the details of a new Votann resource called Yield Points. This Codex will be available as a normal edition and as a ‘lavish Collectors Edition.’

Combat Patrol

A group of miniature figures representing the Leagues of Votann stands prominently against a rocky, textured backdrop. The models are predominantly clad in teal and dark armor, showcasing various weapons and equipment, including guns and melee weapons. The scene features a mix of characters, including a central figure with a glowing sword, all arranged in a dynamic formation that highlights their unique designs and details.

As ever, this new Combat Patrol will be a great way begin or augment a Leagues of Votann army. It will include an Einhyr Champion, five Hearthguards, three Brokhyr Thunderkyn, ten Hearthkyn Warriors, and a transfer sheet.
